Gigi Collaborative Cookbooks ("Gigi", "we", "us", or "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. We built Gigi to preserve family recipes — not to sell your data.
Information We Collect
We collect only what is necessary to provide the app's core features:
- Account information — your email address and password when you create an account via Firebase Authentication.
- Recipe and cookbook content — recipes, ingredients, steps, notes, and cookbook names that you create or import within the app.
- Images — photos you upload for recipes or cookbook covers, stored securely in Firebase Storage.
- Usage data — basic app activity such as features used and error logs, collected to improve performance and fix bugs.
- Device information — device type and operating system version, used for compatibility and crash reporting.
We do not collect your location, contacts, health data, financial information, or any sensitive personal information beyond what is listed above.

Third-Party Services
Gigi uses the following trusted third-party services to operate. Each has its own privacy policy:

We never sell your data. We do not share your personal information with advertisers, data brokers, or any third parties for commercial purposes.
Data Storage & Security
Your data is stored securely using Firebase, which is hosted on Google Cloud infrastructure. We use industry-standard security practices including:
- Encrypted data transmission (HTTPS/TLS)
- Firebase Security Rules to restrict data access to authorized users only
- Secure authentication handled by Firebase Authentication
While no system is completely secure, we take reasonable measures to protect your information from unauthorized access, disclosure, or loss.
Data Sharing & Collaboration
Gigi is designed for family sharing. Here is how sharing works:
- Cookbooks are private by default — only you can see them unless you invite others.
- When you invite a family member to a cookbook, they can view or edit recipes depending on the permission you grant.
- Invited members can see the recipes and content in the shared cookbook but cannot access your other cookbooks or account information.
- You can remove members or delete shared cookbooks at any time.
Your Rights & Choices
You have full control over your data:
- Access — you can view all your data within the app at any time.
- Correction — you can edit or update your recipes, cookbooks, and account information at any time.
- Deletion — you can delete individual recipes, cookbooks, or your entire account. Account deletion removes all your data from our systems within 30 days.
- Export — we plan to add data export functionality in a future update.
To delete your account, go to Settings → Account → Delete Account within the app, or contact us at the email below.
